Faces of Flybook: Brenna Hasty

We asked our team members a little Q&A so that you could learn more about the faces behind Flybook! Get to know Brenna Hasty, the glue that holds our team together, below.

What is your job at The Flybook?

Vice President of Operations. I do a little bit of a lot of things! I work closely with our onboarding and support teams, ensuring they are supported and successful in their mission to give our customers a memorable, quality experience working with The Flybook.

Are you local to Bend?

Yes! I grew up in Oregon in the Willamette Valley (the rainy side of the Cascades) but always knew I'd end up in Bend. I've been here since 2012 and it is my happy place. I love to travel anywhere, but I'm partial to places with big mountains. In 2017 I took a 6 month sabbatical and embarked on a round-the-world adventure with my boyfriend. My personal favorites were Chamonix (France) and Zimbabwe. They provided very different experiences and I loved them both. Chamonix had amazing mountains and Zimbabwe had amazing people.

What are some of your favorite things to do?

Since I live in Bend, all things outdoors! Trail/ultra running is my go-to activity of choice but I'm game for most anything. Mountain biking, backpacking and SUPing come in a close second for favorite summer activities. This winter I've been learning to ski, so you can find me snowplowing down Bachelor on the weekends. During the pandemic I got into making charcuterie boards and learned lots about what flavors compliment each other. I can make a mean charcuterie board!

How would your family or friends describe you in 3 words?

Oh boy... If we're asking my family this question it would likely be any synonym for bossy. It's the cross I bear being the oldest of four siblings ;)

What led you to the Flybook?

After coming back from my sabbatical and six months of travel I didn't want to go back into finance and when I came across The Flybook, it seemed only natural to go to work for a software provider in the tour and activity industry I love so much. It was the best career move I've ever made!

What are you currently reading or watching?

I usually have a few audiobooks and podcasts in my rotation at any given time, generally true crime and self-improvement genres. Anytime I finish an audiobook I buy the hard copy so I can build a physical collection. I'd say my all-time favorite TV show was Breaking Bad and my current guilty pleasure is Yellowstone.

What is your favorite feature of the Flybook product?

I have three favorites right now! I love our new custom styling and bulk search front end display options. Both options are very customizable and I always get lots of "oohs" and "aahs" when showing it. Our CRM tool which has really enhanced The Flybook's group management capabilities. The ability to now manage the whole process in one place has streamlined day-to-day operations for many of our group sales folks, which is pretty cool to see it making a difference. And finally, memberships has been a big new feature for us in the last year. It comes with a lot of neat options including photo Identification, recurring payments for ongoing revenue stream and a lot of flexibility around what a membership can be redeemed for and how.

If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

No question, cheese. So many options.

What do you like most about your job?

Hands down the people. I love the people I work with and the customers we attract. Good folks all around. I feel very fortunate!

Do you have any other passions or fun facts to share?

We have a 1984 orange-ish/red Econoline camper van named Del (after Del Griffith of "Planes, Trains and Automobiles") that averages about 5 miles to the gallon and has a top speed of about 55, unless going downhill. He spends most of the winter accumulating snow and yet starts right up every spring. He's a beast. We take him and our lazy English Lab Gus on overnight camping outings as often as we can in the summer!
